Diamond DA42 MPP

The Diamond DA42 MPP Multi Purpose Platform aircraft is now available through Aurora Flight Sciences. Aurora’s background in composite structures and high-efficiency airframes allowed us to recognize the outstanding performance potential of the Diamond DA42 MPP. We realize that many of our UAV customers also have mission needs that could be met by a low-cost, high-performance manned aircraft. The DA42 MPP is a flexible platform that can be put into service today, but that also has growth paths for the future.

The DA42 MPP is based on the award-winning Diamond DA42 Twinstar, with modifications:

• Structural provisions for modular payload packages (nose, belly, underwing)
• Dedicated power source for mission payloads
• Low-noise, low-IR exhaust system
• Bubbled canopy for increased visibility and helmet wear

Impressive endurance is the hallmark of the DA42 MPP. With extended-range tanks, the DA42 MPP has a maximum endurance of over 12 hours, burning less than 8 gallons an hour for both engines! Aurora’s understanding of the myriad of requirements for RSTA (Reconnaissance, Surveillance, and Target Acquisition) and our experience with integrating complex aircraft systems allows us also to work with potential MPP customers to integrate custom sensor packages into the modular configuration of the DA42 MPP.
